So your looking for some cool educational websites for kids? Well, you’re looking in the right place. In no particular order here are websites you and your kids will love.

COMPUTER CODING

Scratch allows kids to program their own interactive stories, games, and animations using a visual coding language — and share their creations with others in an online community . It is aimed at children age 8-16, however Zip was using this at 6 so it can be suitable for younger (or older) users.

Reading – Maths – Advice

Oxford Owl is the go-to place for free books aimed at emerging readers and advice for parents who are learning a child to read. Included in the free library are the well-known Biff, Chip & Kipper books.

Best for: 3-11 year olds

One for the parents, Ted Ed is great site for those who want to create lessons linked to one of TedEds amazing videos or talks.

Best for: 9+

On Brainpop you will find lesson materials, quizzes, educational games and engaging activities. With over 750+ colourful, animated videos there is sure to be some that you will love.

We loved Minecraft hour of code. This course was created by Code.org  and there are a number of variations available so your bound to find one that your kids will love. Check out these other hour of code themes:

Maths – Science & Engineering –

Khan academy covers everything from maths to music. It offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalised learning dashboard allowing children to study at their own pace. Although there are subjects suitable for younger children, Zip got bored very easily so I think its more suited to older children.

National Geographic kids is prefect for animal, science and nature lovers and is full of educational fun. Here you will find games, videos, photo galleries, maps, etc.

Best for: 5+

Build with chrome is awesome! It is a place where you can build virtually with LEGO bricks. You can be trained to be a master builder with the build academy too.

Geography

Zip loves Google Earth. He could literally spend hours on it but who can blame him? You can explore anywhere in the world from any device. I think that is pretty  cool!
